Calibration

Calibration image

Because of reason that my site contains photographs I`m little bit worry how they would look monitors around world. There`s a paths that we can walk to make us see much closely as I have prepared photos to you.

Note! If your system is calibrated with measurement tools do NOT use these methods. This is very quick and easy calibration method for CRT monitors, and it means it`s not the best way to do it. But it`s better than no calibration at all.

Huom! Todella hyvät ja suomenkieliset ohjeet parempaan värimaailmaan löytyvät Kuvatoimisto Leukun sivuilta.

At first take a moment of your monitor. Look image over and if it`s not seem to be OK you should do a little to your monitor. (Download better calibration chart.)

You need software such as Adobe Gamma (Comes with Elements.) or WiziWYG that can be downloaded from Praxisoft's web site to setup your monitor.

1: Your room should have a stabile lightning.
2: Set monitor color temperature to 6500K.
3: Set monitor contrast level to maximum.
4: Set monitor brightness so that boxes (0,4%) at calibration chart is dark and you can almost see lighter boxes (0,8%).
5: Now you can use your setup software and don`t change setups which we did. Set monitor gamma to point 2.2 and if possible make ICC profile and take it in use at OS level.

Actually if you did everything, you did two things. Calibrating and profiling. (If you could make ICC-profile with your software.) This is kind of a really low level calibration of monitor. If you intrested in calibration you should visit Accurate Image Manipulation pages and most of all get software and equipments to measure monitor. But that is another story.

And always remember when dealing with colours. We need three things to view colours. First of all the light, then viewed object and of course you, viewer. And all these three thing are depending each other. That is one thing why I love light.
